VPN Access🔗

Before you can interact with H4H, you need to login to the UHN VPN service.

To make your connection, we recommend using the OpenConnect command line utility.

On Ubuntu, it can be installed with apt using:

sudo apt install openconnect
On MacOS, it can be installed with homebrew using:
brew install openconnect
On any OS, openconnect can be installed with conda using:
conda install -c conda-forge openconnect

You can then login to the VPN from your terminal like:

sudo openconnect --protocol=gp -u 'uhnresearch\<username>' https://connect2.uhn.ca

Where <username> is your UHN username, the same one used to login to the employee self-serve portal or the UHN intranet. This will prompt you for your password. If you do not have a UHN username or have forgotten your password, please email helpdesk@uhn.ca to open a tech support ticket.

Instructions for installing and using the OpenConnect GUI on Windows are also available here. However, we recommend Windows users setup Windows Subsytem for Linux and connect from the terminal as shown above.

If you prefer to use the proprietary Global Protect VPN software, instructions for setup are available from the UHN.
